I’m a beginner, can you teach me how to stitch?

Yes, we offer a selection of classes that teach everything you need to know to begin stitching!

If you will be visiting in person, we suggest allowing yourself 45 minutes to browse the store and select your project. We can give you the basics of stitching in about 5-10 minutes.

If you don't have a canvas I'm looking for, can you order it for me?

We can certainly try to track it down for you!

If the canvas is able to be secured, we require full payment upfront. We are not able to offer a refund if you decide that canvas is no longer wanted.

Can I preorder/reserve an out of stock canvas?

We do not offer preorders, but please enter your email on the canvas you are eyeing and when it comes back in stock you will be notified via email.  

What carrier(s) do you use for shipping?

We ship via USPS & UPS. In stock items will usually ship within 3-5 business days of the order being placed.  Please reference our Shipping and Returns page for further information. 

How do I place an order for a Custom Belt?

Please email us to get the process started.  We will then send you a link with an invoice. 

Belts are designed in 18 mesh. We typically ask for 12-15 motifs. And will need the measurement (of a currently worn belt) from the most worn hole to the tip of the prong. The designer will need this for accurate sizing. Pant size or belt size is not the correct measurement.

Do you accept commissions for custom orders?

We would love to work with you on custom orders! Or at least steer you in the right direction to several custom artists we work with!

Where to start:

If you are not able to stop into the Atelier, please email hello@theredthreadatelier.com to confirm we are able to accommodate your pieces. Due to the volume of demand and our tiny operation, at the moment we are only accepting pieces purchased online or in-store at The Atelier.

Timing:

All finishing lead times are estimates.  We are not able to guarantee a return date for any finishing item.

Our completion time varies depending on the project type and the time of year. This is a cottage industry, where every step is done by hand—from painting the canvases to stitching, and even the finishing touches. Everyone involved takes pride in making sure the final product is perfect, so please allow time for this process.

Industry standard is about 3-4 months for an ornament, 6-9 months for a pillow.  Belts & Fobs are approximately 8 weeks. All other pieces will take 12+ months. Acrylic offerings are about 12 weeks. However, things can come back much faster AND much slower.

If you want to present something at Christmas time, please note that many of the finishers stop taking on projects in June and can still not be guaranteed.

Do you offer customization on canvases like monograms or dates?

Customization work is all hand-painted. Generally speaking, we should be able to have your customization painted and shipped in about 4 weeks.
